Andis 29775 11-Piece Home Hair Cutting Kit Review

If you’re looking to save on trips to the barber and are wanting to invest in a good hair cutting kit, then you’ve no doubt come across the Andis 29775 11-Piece Home Hair Cutting Kit. It’s been getting some pretty good reviews. But is it all it’s cracked up to be? How good a trim does it give compared to other hair clippers?

In this article I’m going to give my review of the Andis 29775, hopefully helping you come to a more informed decision at to whether it’s right for you or not.

First things first: it has a very nice set of stainless-steel blades on it which cut through my hair with no trouble at all. For me, it simply does what it was designed to do: cut hair. There’s not fancy gimmicks or “add-ons”, it just works.

It has a nice shape and feel to it too. Although it’s a plug-in model with a cable (as opposed to the wireless version), I feel like it’s perfectly easy to use and manoeuvre. You often think that a cable would get in the way but I haven’t found that to be a problem. I actually prefer that you can simply plug it in and know it’s going to remain powerful, rather than having to ensure it’s fully charged, and the hassle of having it die on you mid-cut.

It actually works amazingly well as a beard trimmer. It’s designed as a “home hair cutting kit” so that includes hair everywhere. And it does a great job for wherever I’ve used it. It’s good for sculpting and shaping my beard as well as generally tidying my hair up.

However, on the same note, as a downside, I’d say this trimmer is only really suitable for men with short hair. It does a perfect job for anything under ½ an inch, but anything more than that it does struggle to be honest. Also, as for a beard trimmer, it works great if you actually want some length of beard, whether it’s just stubble or something more substantial, but if you’re after a clean shave, then the Andis 29775 probably won’t give you what you want.

It claims to give “ultra close cutting” and it does, but it could still go closer. Again, this is absolutely fine for regular hair and for beards beyond the length of stubble, just don’t expect it to rival the shave of a normal wet razor. It does go close enough to eliminate and prevent ingrown facial hair, but as I say, it’s not quite “skin-close”.

In conclusion, I couldn’t be happier with the results the Andis 29775 has given me and I would definitely recommend it to anyone in need of an electric home razor. It’s absolutely perfect for most people’s hair trimming needs, just bare in mind that it might not give as close a shave on your face as you might expect. Overall though, it does what it was designed to do and is a very high quality hair cutter. Recommended.
